More than two billion people worldwide – nearly a quarter of the global population – still lack internet access. The majority are in rural, remote, and low-income areas where commercial providers see little financial incentive to invest, and where government efforts have yet to fully bridge the gap.
What’s needed are community-centered connectivity solutions – initiatives designed with, by, and for the communities they serve. These locally driven models are proving more sustainable and effective, especially in places where traditional approaches have fallen short.
