Microsoft Kenya Country Manager Phyllis Migwi to Step Down After Three-and-a-Half Years

Phyllis Migwi, who has led Microsoft Kenya for the past three-and-a-half years, has announced her decision to leave the tech giant, signaling the start of a new chapter in her career.

In a post on LinkedIn, Migwi reflected on her tenure, describing it as a period of growth and accomplishment. “After an enriching 3.5 years, I’ll be transitioning from my role this February,” she wrote. “It has been an honor to lead this work, and I am proud of what we have achieved together. Now, it’s time to pass the baton.”

Migwi joined Microsoft in 2022, succeeding Kendi Nderitu, at a time when the company was expanding rapidly in Kenya and across Africa. Under her leadership, Microsoft strengthened partnerships with both government and private sector organizations, boosted digital skills programs, and drove adoption of cloud technologies among local businesses. She also oversaw initiatives linked to the African Development Centre (ADC), helping to deepen Microsoft’s footprint on the continent.

Highlighting the importance of Microsoft’s work in the region, Migwi said, “From supporting local communities to empowering businesses and collaborating with government, the mission behind our efforts has never been clearer.”

She expressed confidence in the company’s future leadership, emphasizing the need for a successor who can continue building on the progress made. “There’s still immense potential to unlock,” she noted.

Microsoft has not yet announced who will take over the Kenya operations or shared further details about the leadership transition.
