Rowntree’s Free the Fund Community Grant Programme 2026: Up to £10,000 for Summer Community Projects

The Free the Fund Community Grant Programme by Rowntree’s offers financial support to charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK and Ireland to run community-focused summer initiatives that improve adult wellbeing and strengthen local connections. The programme provides grants of up to £10,000 for projects that encourage creativity, inclusivity, and meaningful community participation.

Four organisations will be selected to receive funding for initiatives that bring adults aged 21–65 together through engaging activities during the summer period. Supported projects may include transforming outdoor spaces or community gardens, organising local arts festivals, or purchasing equipment for sports, theatre, music, or other creative programmes. The goal is to inspire community action, enhance shared spaces, and create positive social impact within neighbourhoods.

Eligible applicants must be registered charities or not-for-profit organisations operating in the UK or Ireland. However, individuals, profit-making businesses, local authorities, schools, and unregistered or un-constituted groups are not eligible to apply. Some community interest companies may also be excluded if they do not meet the programme’s requirements.

Applications opened on 2 March 2026 and will close at 5pm on 31 March 2026. Applicants must clearly outline their project objectives, target beneficiaries, planned activities, and expected community impact. A funding panel will review submissions and may award a grant amount that is higher or lower than the requested sum.

All funded projects must be completed by the end of September 2026. Successful organisations will also be required to participate in promotional activities such as photography, filming, or interviews to help showcase the impact of their projects.

Overall, the programme aims to support creative summer initiatives that foster stronger communities and promote wellbeing through shared experiences. FOLLOW HERE
