Within UN-Habitat, the Urban Economy Branch supports national and local governments to strengthen their capacity to respond to rapid urbanization. The branch focuses on improving urban planning, financing mechanisms, connectivity, and economic systems to help cities grow in a more integrated, inclusive, and sustainable manner.

Key Responsibilities
Working under the guidance of the Chief of the Land, Housing and Informal Settlements Section and the Programme Management Officer overseeing the Housing Knowledge Platform, the consultant will be expected to:
- Conceptualize, design, and deploy the official landing page for the Housing Knowledge Platform on the UN-Habitat website.
- Build and launch a dedicated Drupal 10 website for the platform, fully integrated with the main UN-Habitat site.
- Create and customize themes, layouts, and templates in line with defined technical and design requirements.
- Configure, manage, and administer Drupal 10 environments.
- Ensure all development complies with Drupal 10 standards, security protocols, and best practices.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues flagged during testing or by stakeholders.
- Monitor Drupal updates and security releases to maintain system integrity.
- Conduct a comprehensive technical review of project specifications, highlighting gaps and recommending improvements.
- Prepare a detailed implementation roadmap aligned with the Housing Knowledge Platform concept note, including preparations for its soft launch at the 13th World Urban Forum in May 2026.
Qualifications and Skills
- A master’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required.
- A bachelor’s degree plus at least two additional years of relevant professional experience may be considered as an alternative.
- Certification as an Acquia Certified Drupal Developer or equivalent is mandatory.
- At least two years of hands-on experience developing with Drupal 10.
- Strong command of Drupal 10 architecture, theming, and module development.
- Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience using version control tools, especially Git.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within structured development frameworks such as Agile.
- Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
