Job Summary

PATH is seeking a Senior Program Officer to support the implementation of initiatives focused on strengthening infectious disease detection and epidemic preparedness. This role will provide strategic and operational project management support to the STRIDES Global Team, ensuring effective coordination between ministries of health, PATH country offices, technical teams, and global implementing partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main liaison between country leadership, global technical teams, and external partners.
  • Coordinate project start-up activities, including work planning and operational readiness.
  • Provide ongoing support for daily program implementation and troubleshoot operational challenges in collaboration with the STRIDES team.
  • Contribute to the preparation, review, and timely submission of high-quality reports and project deliverables.
  • Support financial oversight by tracking expenditures, reviewing budgets, and assisting with forecasts alongside finance teams.
  • Ensure adherence to donor agreements, STRIDES contracts, and PATH policies, flagging compliance risks as needed.
  • Coordinate planning, progress review, and stakeholder meetings at both country and global levels.
  • Assist with the development of presentations, briefing materials, and knowledge management tools, including meeting documentation and shared platforms.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in public health, international development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting US Government–funded health programs; experience with high-risk or high-impact pathogen initiatives is an advantage.
  • Understanding of global health security, infectious disease surveillance, outbreak response, One Health approaches, and health systems strengthening.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with experience working across diverse teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, facilitation, and report-writing skills.
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to PATH’s mission and values.
  • Professional fluency in English required; French language skills are an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
