IMPACT Initiatives is seeking a Senior Assessment Officer (SAO) to lead research and assessment initiatives under the Area Based Coordination (ABC) program for Sudan. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical skills with practical field experience to enhance our humanitarian response.
Key Responsibilities
Research Cycle Management & Technical Skills
- Analyze existing IM systems and reporting channels in ABC areas, identifying bottlenecks and scalable processes.
- Develop analytical frameworks for ABC interventions.
- Deliver short- and long-term outputs aligned with organizational priorities.
External Engagement
- Collaborate with ABC coordinators and INGOs to define IM priorities and gather assessments, reports, and key data.
- Represent IMPACT at relevant external forums, including conferences, related to the Sudan crisis.
Contextual Understanding
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the evolving Sudanese context to inform research and programming.
Staff Management & Training
- Support capacity building within the IMPACT Sudan mission, strengthening analytical skills across the team.
Internal Coordination
- Work with HQ to develop, validate, and implement research aligned with IMPACT’s 3.0 vision in Sudan.
- Coordinate with research units to improve assessment and data collection cycles.
Confidentiality
- Uphold strict confidentiality of all data and information collected during assignment.
Requirements
- Experience: 3–5 years in humanitarian settings (assessments, M&E, research design/analysis).
- Research Skills: Expertise in mixed-methods research and high statistical literacy.
- Aid System Knowledge: Understanding of multi-sectoral humanitarian architecture; Sudan or similar context experience preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and reporting skills; data visualization an asset.
- Academic: Master’s or equivalent in international studies, development, humanitarian response, political science, or data science.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with R, SPSS, or STATA is a plus.
- Security & Region Experience: Able to operate in complex environments; regional experience desirable.
- Languages: Fluency in English required; Arabic is an asset.
