About the Role

Greenpeace Africa is seeking a dynamic Campaign Manager – Social and Tax Justice to lead and coordinate initiatives that promote progressive taxation, equitable revenue distribution, and socio-economic justice. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and monitoring of campaigns under the Fair Share Project, contributing to national and international policy advocacy, research-driven strategy, and stakeholder engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning

  • Contribute to the development and assessment of Greenpeace Africa’s program strategy.
  • Support the design and implementation of the Fair Share Project’s strategic objectives.
  • Advise on social, economic, political, legislative, and business dimensions of campaigns to ensure effective influence on relevant policies and practices.
  • Coordinate with other NROs to ensure progressive tax and redistribution initiatives reflect diverse contexts.

Campaign Execution & Coordination

  • Work closely with Project Co-Leads to develop and implement project plans.
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising team to enhance campaign funding opportunities.
  • Represent Greenpeace at meetings, media engagements, coordination bodies, and with local communities.
  • Coordinate with the Communications team to ensure media and advocacy interventions align with campaign goals.
  • Produce or oversee briefings and updates for staff, media, and stakeholders.
  • Support monitoring, reporting, and evaluation processes for the Fair Share Project.
  • Partner with the Research function to extract data and insights that guide campaign strategies.
  • Contribute to network-wide learning and knowledge-sharing around Fair Share initiatives.

Responsiveness & Opportunity Leveraging

  • Identify and act on responsive opportunities that advance campaign objectives across the GPI network.
  • Leverage strategic moments to maximize campaign impact.

Relationship Building & Networking

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with civil society, communities, authorities, and key stakeholders.
  • Build and sustain alliances with GPI networks and NROs to strengthen campaign influence.
  • Foster external partnerships to advance campaign goals effectively.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Policy, Development, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in campaign management and coordination.
  • Proven experience working in international, multicultural teams.
  • Strong Pan-African mindset with a deep understanding of socio-economic justice.
  • Knowledge of progressive taxation, revenue redistribution, and addressing inequalities.
  • Familiarity with project management cycles.
  • Strong negotiation, consensus-building, and stakeholder facilitation skills.
  • Experience in advocacy, lobbying, campaign execution, and strategic communications.
