Job Description
About Africa No Filter (ANF)
Africa No Filter was founded to challenge the narrow and repetitive narratives that continue to define Africa through the lenses of poverty, corruption, conflict, and poor governance. These limited portrayals overlook the continent’s progress, innovation, creativity, and agency, reinforcing harmful stereotypes that position Africa as broken and dependent.
Through strategic grant-making, advocacy, and community building, Africa No Filter works with storytellers, media, and institutions to reshape how Africa is seen – locally and globally – one story at a time.
The Role: Communications Lead
Africa No Filter is seeking a senior, entrepreneurial, and highly tech-literate Communications Lead to drive its digital, media, and narrative strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role for a communications professional with strong agency experience and a proven ability to design and deliver high-impact campaigns.
The Communications Lead will blend strategic insight with disciplined execution, ensuring ANF’s work is visible, well-positioned, and reaches priority audiences at critical moments. The role requires sharp media instincts, deep digital expertise, established press relationships across Africa, and a strong interest in how AI and emerging technologies can enhance communications workflows and impact.
A core focus of the role will be shaping and delivering flagship initiatives, including Opportunity Africa and the Narrative Index Project, alongside ANF’s broader advocacy and communications agenda.
About Opportunity Africa
Opportunity Africa is ANF’s flagship, multi-year continental campaign aimed at repositioning Africa as a hub of opportunity, innovation, and progress. The campaign moves beyond isolated storytelling to create a shared narrative framework that governments, businesses, creatives, media, and institutions can adopt and amplify.
Designed as a three-year initiative, Opportunity Africa integrates branding, storytelling, coalition building, and media activation to shift perceptions, attract investment and trade, and strengthen confidence—particularly among Africa’s youth and diaspora. Its ambition is long-term: embedding narrative change within institutions, systems, and everyday communication
