CLEAR Global is seeking a thoughtful and driven Advocacy Officer to strengthen global efforts around language justice, inclusive data practices, and ethical AI. This role is ideal for someone motivated by social change and eager to work where community voices, technology, and policy intersect.

About the Role

The Advocacy Officer will play a key role within the Campaign Team, contributing to initiatives that ensure marginalized language communities are represented in conversations shaping digital futures. Working closely with the Campaign Manager, the postholder will help translate community-led insights into policy influence, public narratives, and strategic partnerships that advance language rights and data justice.

This position suits a professional who enjoys blending strategy, storytelling, and coalition-building, and who can navigate both grassroots and global advocacy spaces.

Key Responsibilities

Advocacy Planning and Delivery
You will co-develop and implement advocacy strategies aligned with CLEAR Global’s language justice mission, identify priority targets across civil society, government, technology, and multilateral institutions, and monitor emerging policy and funding opportunities in AI governance, digital inclusion, and language access.

Stakeholder Engagement
The role involves representing CLEAR Global in online and in-person forums, cultivating relationships with advocacy partners, and contributing to coalitions spanning human rights, language policy, open data, and digital justice.

Messaging and Evidence
You will produce high-quality advocacy content including briefs, opinion pieces, blogs, and policy submissions, and help turn data, research, and lived community experiences into compelling messages that inspire action. Collaboration with Monitoring and Learning colleagues will ensure evidence and feedback inform advocacy outputs.

Community, Partnerships, and Fundraising Support
The Advocacy Officer will support community fellows and partners through coaching, messaging support, and opportunity mapping, while also contributing to fundraising efforts by identifying opportunities and shaping persuasive narratives for proposals.

Requirements

Applicants should bring at least three years of experience in advocacy, campaigns, or communications in international or Global South contexts, strong writing and relationship-building skills, and a solid understanding of human rights, digital inclusion, language rights, or data ethics. A bachelor’s degree is required (master’s preferred). Multilingual ability, lived experience of language exclusion, and familiarity with participatory or citizen-led advocacy are strong advantages.
