FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund Opens Grants to Support Underserved Children Through Education and Sport

The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund is a global grant initiative supporting grassroots organizations that expand access to quality education and sports-based learning for children in underserved communities. Through a strategic partnership between FIFA and Global Citizen, the fund mobilizes resources and influence to ensure every child – regardless of location or socioeconomic status – can learn, grow, and thrive.

The fund provides one-year, one-time grants to K–12 education programs and sports-enabled learning initiatives, with funding ranging from USD $50,000 to $250,000. Approximately 150 organizations will be funded in the first cycle (2026). Grants cannot exceed 50% of an organization’s annual operating budget, and reapplication is not permitted.

Eligible applicants must be legally registered non-profits, community-based, and directly serve 500–10,000 individuals. Organizations must demonstrate direct implementation, financial stability, and transparency. Only one application per organization is allowed.

Applicants are assessed for their ability to address financial barriers, infrastructure gaps, inclusive practices, and child safeguarding. Priority is given to programs that target marginalized populations, demonstrate urgent educational need, show strong implementation capacity, and align with Global Citizen’s K–12 education strategy, including the use of sports as learning tools. Community involvement and potential for sustainable, long-term impact are also key considerations.

Grant recipients must comply with monitoring and reporting requirements, including mid-term and final reports, and may participate in interviews as part of evaluation.

Applications open October 27, 2025, and close December 31, 2025, with award notifications in early February 2026. A second cycle is anticipated later in 2026.

The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund demonstrates a shared commitment to equitable education, leveraging sport and grassroots leadership to create lasting opportunities for children worldwide.
