Communications Manager, Operations

Location: Nairobi

Key Responsibilities

Communications Governance Framework

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine governance frameworks to ensure alignment, compliance, and consistency across global and market communication teams.
  • Monitor adherence to brand standards, communication protocols, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure governance structures remain practical, user-friendly, and widely adopted.

Policies & Guidelines

  • Create and maintain clear, comprehensive policies across all communication disciplines.
  • Translate global standards into actionable, market-ready guidelines.
  • Collaborate with global communications leaders and subject matter experts to keep documentation current and effective.

Process Design & Optimization

  • Design and streamline communication processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and transparency.
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement across content creation, approvals, and planning cycles.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment across tools and systems.

Ways of Working (WoW)

  • Champion integrated and collaborative working models across global and regional teams.
  • Drive adoption of shared platforms, tools, and best practices.
  • Establish structured frameworks, playbooks, and routines to ensure consistency and engagement.

Capability Building & AI Enablement

  • Identify skills gaps and lead upskilling initiatives across teams and markets.
  • Develop training programs, onboarding materials, and learning pathways.
  • Lead the Communications AI Office, ensuring responsible and effective AI adoption.
  • Support teams with AI training, governance, and best practices.

 

Requirements:

  • 8–10 years’ experience in Communications Operations, PMO, Governance, or related roles.
  • Proven ability to build governance frameworks and drive operational excellence.
  • Strong expertise in process optimization and capability development.
  • Experience in global, matrixed organizations.
  • Exposure to technology or AI-driven transformation is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Executive & CEO Communications

  • Develop and execute a strategic positioning plan for the CEO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
  • Build long-term narratives, thought leadership themes, and editorial direction.
  • Manage executive content calendars and engagement strategies across platforms such as LinkedIn.
  • Drive visibility through speaking engagements, media presence, and content initiatives.
  • Provide advisory support for executive-level communication needs.

Corporate & Reputation Management (Tetra Laval)

  • Lead corporate communications, PR, and reputation management initiatives.
  • Manage crisis and issues communication with strategic oversight.
  • Coordinate key corporate outputs, including annual reports and brand communication programs.

Global Speakers’ Bureau

  • Establish and manage a global speakers’ platform to enhance thought leadership.
  • Oversee governance, processes, and spokesperson readiness.
  • Align speaking opportunities with broader PR and brand strategy.

Leadership Communications Governance

  • Build and lead an ELT Editorial Board to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Provide visibility into leadership communications and priorities.
  • Drive structured planning, coordination, and transparency across executive messaging.

 

Requirements

  • 13–15 years of experience in Corporate or Executive Communications.
  • Proven track record supporting CEOs and senior leaders.
  • Strong expertise in crisis communication and reputation management.
  • Experience operating in complex, global organizations.
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and strategic communication skills.
  • Strong executive presence with high levels of professionalism and discretion.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or related field.
