Applications are now open for the 9th round of the Global Citizen (GC) Scholarship Program by the Ban Ki-moon Foundation For A Better Future. The initiative seeks to empower young changemakers committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through locally driven action.
The GC Scholarship is a fully virtual, 8–9 month program designed to equip young leaders with practical tools to develop and implement changemaker projects aligned with the Agenda 2030 framework.
Eligibility Requirements
The program will select 16 young changemakers aged 20–35 from eligible countries across:
- Africa: Cameroon, Ethiopia, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe
- Middle East: Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE
- South Asia: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka
- Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Vietnam
Selected participants will also be joined by one student from Management Center Innsbruck (MCI), forming a cohort of 17 scholars.
Scholarship Benefits
Over the course of the program, scholars will:
- Deepen their understanding of the SDGs and sustainable entrepreneurship
- Participate in a fully funded two-week summer school hosted by Management Center Innsbruck (MCI)
- Attend expert workshops and peer-to-peer mentoring sessions
- Receive €500 seed funding to implement their changemaker project (upon approved proposal submission)
- Earn a certificate of achievement signed by H.E. Ban Ki-moon and H.E. Heinz Fischer upon successful completion
Application Process
Applicants must provide:

- Changemaker project information (title, SDGs addressed, implementation plan)
At the final stage, candidates must upload:
- Motivational statement
- Portrait photo (JPEG/PNG)
- 60-second introduction video (MP4/MOV)
