Job Description
Organizational Context
Footprint to Freedom is a survivor-led movement operating across Africa and internationally to combat human trafficking through grassroots empowerment, advocacy, systems strengthening, strategic partnerships, and awareness building.
As the organization expands its continental presence, it is intentionally strengthening its programme architecture to ensure growth remains ethical, trauma-informed, survivor-centred, and sustainable. The scaling process prioritizes survivor dignity, leadership integrity, and long-term movement resilience.
Role Overview
The Programme Lead & Strategist provides both strategic vision and operational leadership across the organization’s programme portfolio. This role steers programme design, partnership development, proposal writing, and direct implementation, while advancing a cohesive survivor-led movement across as many as 54 African countries.
The position blends high-level strategy with hands-on execution – covering movement expansion, coalition building, advocacy alignment, communications oversight, and capacity strengthening—while safeguarding survivor leadership as the central pillar of growth.

- Develop and manage partnerships with civil society actors, survivor-led initiatives, donors, and multilateral institutions.

- Campaigning & Advocacy Support
- Guide development of survivor-aligned campaigns and advocacy strategies.
- Support messaging and materials in collaboration with survivor leaders.
- Provide strategic backing to grassroots activists and student-led movements.
- Ensure all advocacy efforts are responsible, values-driven, and survivor-centred.
- Capacity Building & Leadership Development
- Design and facilitate trainings, workshops, and peer-learning initiatives.
- Strengthen leadership, advocacy, safeguarding, and organisational capacities.
- Support learning platforms such as the Survivor Leadership / African Survivor Academy.
- Promote cross-regional exchange and collaboration.
- Programme Delivery & Operational Coordination
- Lead key convenings, trainings, and hybrid engagements.
- Manage timelines, logistics, facilitators, consultants, and partners.
- Oversee programme documentation, monitoring inputs, and learning processes.
- Survivor Care, Safeguarding & Integrity
- Ensure survivor leadership remains protected and meaningful as the movement scales.
- Implement systems for preparation, care, safeguarding, and follow-up.
- Uphold trauma-informed and ethical standards across all engagements.
