Job Summary
This role is responsible for driving business growth across East Africa within the processed foods, dairy, and non-alcoholic beverages sectors. The Area Manager will lead commercial strategy, manage key accounts, and oversee regional sales operations to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
You will represent the company’s full portfolio of food and beverage solutions (excluding alcoholic beverages), working closely with customers to deliver value-driven solutions. The role also involves collaborating with technical, marketing, and sector specialists to strengthen market position and expand customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead regional business development to achieve sales growth and profitability targets
- Manage key customer accounts and identify new business opportunities
- Oversee sales operations, ensuring delivery within budget and cost parameters
- Develop and execute customer-focused sales strategies and programs
- Identify market potential and align regional and local account priorities
- Drive innovation and introduce new solutions to enhance competitiveness
- Strengthen customer service and distribution systems for improved satisfaction
- Build and maintain strong relationships across all customer levels
- Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals
Managerial Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Account Managers and Country Managers across the region
- Provide coaching, performance management, and team development
- Oversee recruitment, promotions, and overall people management decisions
- Set clear targets and ensure accountability across the team
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in B2B sales (preferably in the chemical industry)
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong understanding of P&L and market dynamics
- Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Experience in brewery or beverage production is an added advantage
